National parks of the USA

The national parks of the USA are everyone's favorite places for outdoor recreation and adventure. Some of these natural wonders are so gigantic that you can lose yourself in the wilderness for days and weeks on end. Are you in the mood for bears, canyons, and geysers? Then learn about the best national parks in the United States of America:

National Parks in the Northeast USA

Although the Northeast of the USA often plays a pioneering role, it comes last in terms of national parks: only one national park can be found here.

However, Acadia National Park in Maine is really worth seeing! The breathtaking coastal landscape with its bizarre rocks, mountains, and lakes is one of the USA's ten most visited national parks

National parks in the West of the USA

As the most diverse region in the USA, the West also has the most national parks. The all-time favorites Grand Canyon and Yellowstone National Park can be found in Arizona and the border area between Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho.

Almost as popular is the red-glowing Zion National Park in Utah, which is not far from Bryce Canyon. Also, no one can get past the legendary Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado.

The top states in terms of the number of national parks in the USA are California, with nine national parks (including Death Valley, Yosemite, Joshua Tree, Redwood, and Sequoia), and Alaska, with eight national parks (e.g., Denali, Katmai, Glacier Bay, and Gates of the Arctic).

The imposing Mount Rainier National Park in Washington, not far from the Olympic Peninsula, positions itself as a cool outsider.

National parks in the US Southern states

The hot and humid South of the USA offers spectacular wildlife along with its most popular national park, the Everglades in Florida: get ready for wild boat rides with the gators!

The Shenandoah National Park in Virginia is a little less biting, and you can discover it on a beautiful road trip along Skyline Drive. Head up high in Tennessee's Great Smoky Mountains, where you can enjoy rushing waterfalls and breathtaking views.

Are you a real explorer? Then discover the mysterious Mammoth Caves in Kentucky or head to the Dry Tortugas Islands in the Gulf of Mexico!

National Parks in the Midwest

Extraordinary landscapes full of jagged rocks await you in the national parks of the Midwest. Theodore Roosevelt National Park in North Dakota and Badlands National Park in South Dakota are a feast for the eyes and home to the real American bison.

The word "national park" seems a bit out of place when you look at Gateway Arch National Park in Missouri because the Gateway Arch is a stainless steel-clad arch on the banks of the St. Louis River.
